Members and guests of Progressive Chapter, American Business Women’s Association, met recently at the Pine Bluff National Bank, White Hall branch for “A Fiesta Party,” the theme for its fall enrollment event.
The decorations featured a Mexican decor. Taco salad with a choice of beef or chicken was the main dish.
Linda Eifling, chapter president, introduced her guests, Virgina Carter and Frances Taylor. Donna Renfro, a member of DuBocage Chapter ABWA, also attended the meeting.
Betsy Foster, a charter member, gave a brief history of the chapter. Progressive Chapter was chartered in 1979. Over the years, around 35 scholarships have been given. In addition to scholarships, the chapter helps the community through many worthwhile community service projects. The chapter aims to make monthly day trips. Presently they have traveled to several Civil War sites in keeping with the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Celebration.
Georgia LaGrave, scholarship auction chairman, reminded everyone to collect items to be auctioned. The Fall Auction, which funds scholarships for ladies from Pine Bluff and White Hall, will be held Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. at White Hall City Hall.

Floretta Scott, community service Chairman, reported on the chapter’s helping a student from UAPB make the transition to college life. They helped him with school supplies and items for dorm life.
Jan Adam, travel chairman, reported on the day trip to Petit Jean State Park and the Jacksonville Museum of Military History. The group especially enjoyed seeing the unique cabins that a group could reserve at Petit Jean State Park. After a delicious lunch at the newly remodeled lodge, the group enjoyed the walking trail to the Cedar Falls Overlook. The group then drove to the Jacksonville Museum of Military History, which featured displays on the Civil War. It was also the site of the Reed’s Bridge Battlefield. Those making the trip were Jan Adam, Linda Eifling, Margie Murphy and Nancy Rosen.
Door Prizes were won by Scott, Jean Upshaw and Eifling. The dollar pot was won by Murphy. September is the birthday month of Foster, Needra Hansen, and LaGrave.
