The Rev. Jesse Turner (left) and the Rev. James Hill Jr. (right) present books on civil rights and copies of the United States Constitution to Michelle Heard. Pastors on Patrol, a faith-based group within Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, donated the items recently to the Pine Bluff High School Library in remembrance of the March on Washington on Aug. 28, 1963. “The PEN OR PENCIL Mentoring Movement, along with our partners, are dedicated to educating the scholars in Pine Bluff schools about Black History, empowering them to be the authors of their generation’s new history,” Derrick L. Newby Sr., PBICVR president, said in a news release. Turner is executive director of PBICVR. (Special to The Commercial)
