The Arkansas State Parks and the Arkansas Forestry Commission will conduct prescribed burns at Cane Creek State Park at Star City on the north side of Arkansas 293 from Lick Creek to Spring Branch Creek.
The weather will be the key factor in deciding if a burn will occur; however, burning was slated between Feb. 9-24, a spokesman said.
The majority of the burning will occur between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists are asked to drive with caution because of the possibility of reduced visibility caused by smoke. Emergency personnel will be on hand to protect motorists and ensure fires stay within prescribed boundaries.
The Cane Creek Lake Trail will be closed during the burn. The primary benefit for the prescribed burning is fuel hazard reduction. Details: Walt Reding, superintendent, Cane Creek State Park, 870-628-4714.
