The 3-point well for Southeast Arkansas College did not run dry Thursday night.
Tobias Prall made 7 of SEARK’s 14 shots from outside the perimeter in a 76-57 men’s basketball win at Arkansas State University-Newport. Prall, the sophomore guard from Trenton, N.J., scored 20 of his season-high 31 points in the second half. He has now scored 20 or more points in 3 of his last 4 games.
Derek Magwood, the Sharks’ leading scorer on the season, sank 5 3-pointers and finished with 21 points. Jalen Brown made the Sharks’ other 2 treys and finished with 14 points.
SEARK (8-1, 2-0 in Region 2) led 35-27 at halftime after Prall scored 9 of his 11 points from the arc.
For the game the Sharks made 10 of 10 free throws. Defensively they held ASU-Newport (5-7, 0-2) well under its 77.2-point average.
Martez Burse kept the Aviators in the game early on with 15 first-half points. Burse finished with 20, while Nehemiah Reedus dropped in 12 and Eli Tate scored 9 (all on 3s) in the loss.
SEARK will return to action Monday at H.O. Clemmons Arena to host North Arkansas College. The women’s game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., with the men to follow at 7:30 p.m.
