A variance request by Michael and Janet Hartz to allow construction of a porch was approved during the White Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Adjustment meeting Monday.
The owners of Hartz Honey Hole requested a variance to extended the porch for their new old country store beyond the side-yard setback. Side-yard setbacks were created to provide enough open space around structures for visibility and traffic safety.
According to a previous article, the porch will be apart of a new shopping plaza called Dogwood Village. The complex will be an old-town-inspired plaza that will have weathered-looking wood siding, wood-shingled canopies, large storefront windows and a wood-railed front porch.
The new store will be located at 7106 Dollarway Road in White Hall. According to the recommendation by the White Hall Board of Zoning Adjustments, Dogwood Lane is a dead end street with extremely low traffic flow, so the extension of the porch will have no effect.
