Police: Sept. 14 death of man, 37, is suicide

Pine Bluff Police said Friday its preliminary investigation into the Sept. 14 death of a 37-year-old man indicates he died by suicide.

Demetrice Moore was found dead at his residence at 802 Moreland St. after police responded to a 911 call by his girlfriend, Pine Bluff Police public relations specialist John Worthen said.

The police department said in a news release, according to its detectives’ office, the state medical examiner’s office ruled Moore’s death an apparent suicide. Detectives are awaiting the full autopsy report, which includes a toxicology screening, before closing the case, according to the release.

“The main crux is that the detectives determined in their investigation that there is nothing to indicate foul play,” Worthen said.

Police also addressed what it called “social media chatter related to Moore’s death” in stating the door leading to Moore’s dwelling was not padlocked at the time of his death, citing detectives.

“It’s probably padlocked now because the property owner doesn’t want anyone hanging around,” Worthen said.

Further information about this case will be released when the autopsy report is finalized, according to police.
