Police seize suspected cocaine from car, arrest driver

Suspected crack cocaine was allegedly found in four different locations in an automobile when police served a search warrant on the car Thursday morning, and the driver was arrested on drug charges.

Marquis Brown, 29, was stopped at 11 a.m. at 8th Avenue and Nebraska Street by Vice and Narcotics officers, Detective Richard McCorvy said in a probable cause affidavit that was presented in court Friday.

McCorvy said the suspected cocaine was found in the driver’s side floorboard, the center console, the back seat and under the front passenger seat of the Chevrolet Impala that Brown was driving.

Deputy Prosecutor Maxie Kizer said Brown is on parole and has been convicted of several prior drug-related charges.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 bond for Brown after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with possession of a controlled substance.

Brown said he would hire his own attorney.
