Arkansas State Police on Tuesday said they are investigating two fatal shootings in the southeast corner of the state.
Around 1 a.m. Saturday, police officers in McGehee discovered a 20-year-old man in the driver’s seat of a white Chevrolet Avalanche parked on the side of a residence in the 800 block of North Street. The man, identified as Kevin Morgan, appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his head.
Around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, a shooting at the Country Place Apartments on Mulberry Street in Lake Village wounded two individuals. Markell Lamber, 20, of Lake Village, died from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at 7:46 p.m. by the Chicot County coroner. A 17-year-old boy who was also shot was treated and released from Chicot Memorial Medical Center, where Lamber was also taken.
Special agents with the State Police Criminal Investigation Division arrested Antario Andrews, 22, of Lake Village, in connection with the Lamber shooting. He has been charged with capital murder.
Morgan’s and Lamber’s bodies are being sent to the state Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
