Pine Bluff Police on Thursday said a man being sought for hindering apprehension or prosecution in the investigation of a murder was taken into custody. According to the intake log at the adult detention center, Steven Allen Berg, 38, was booked in during the late evening hours on Tuesday. He was released pending further investigation Thursday morning.
Berg was being sought in connection with the June 16 shooting death of George Young, 50, whose body was found lying in a yard at the intersection of Jones and Burnell Streets in the Dollarway area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest.
No arrests have been made in the slaying and anyone with information about the death is asked to contact the Detective Division at 730-2090 or the dispatch center at 541-5300. All calls will be kept confidential. Information can also be shared via the social media outlets listed below.
