Pine Bluff police are investigating a reported burglary at a senior citizens center and the director of the center said the only item taken was one that the clients had worked to purchase.
Jackie Brewer — director of the Stracota Center, formerly the Bradshaw Center, at 801 E. 8th Ave. — said a 52-inch flat-screen television had been taken during the burglary Saturday morning.
“They worked hard to pay for that television,” Brewer said. “We had a smaller set, but we needed a bigger one so everyone could see it. The clients held rummage sales, sold raffle tickets — they did it all.”
Police reported that the building’s glass front door was broken with a concrete brick, part of which was found inside the building. The alarm at the center was activated at 12:45 a.m.
Brewer said the Sony television was bought new in January and was valued at $800.
The insurance deductible for the center was $1,000, she said.
