Two drug-related incidents allegedly occurred while two suspects were in custody at the Jefferson County adult detention center.
A Little Rock woman who had been arrested for shoplifting early Monday will face felony charges after drugs were found in her purse at the jail. A man who was with her and also arrested for shoplifting was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center after he reportedly swallowed suspected crack cocaine.
Angela Boyd, 26, reportedly had a plastic bag containing 13 pills that were identified as a controlled substance, as well as a substance believed to be synthetic marijuana, Tri-County Drug Task Force Investigator Christopher Drye reported in a probable cause affidavit.
Dana Smith, 36, also of Little Rock, reportedly removed a white power from evidence envelopes while he was being booked into the jail.
Drye reported that Boyd, Smith and others had been arrested at the Walmart Supercenter and taken to the adult detention center to be booked in. Deputy Shara Moore was conducting a search of Boyd’s property at the jail when she found a yellow package with the suspected marijuana, and the plastic baggie with pills that were stamped G3722.

The suspected marijuana tested negative for THC while the white pills were identified as containing two milligrams of Alprazolam, a Schedule IV controlled substance.
Police Vice and Narcotics Detective April Tirado reported that Smith had two active arrest warrants, including one from Pulaski County when he was taken into custody at Walmart and accused of using bolt cutters to remove the security chains from laptop computers, then take them to a vehicle where Boyd was waiting.
Tirado reported that officers found a white powder weighing .25 grams and one hard rock believed to be crack cocaine, and at the jail, the substances were placed in evidence envelopes to be turned over the investigators.
Smith, who was handcuffed to a bench during the process, reportedly got off the bench, sneaked over to the table where the evidence was, removed the evidence, and swallowed it. The scene was captured on video at the jail, according to the report from Tirado.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $25,000 bond for Boyd after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge her with furnishing prohibited articles, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, and a $50,000 bond for Smith after ruling prosecutors had probable cause to charge him with tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled substance, theft of property and criminal mischief.
Even though the judge set a bond for Smith, he will not be able to post it because he was also being sought on an absconder warrant from the Arkansas Department of Correction.
