A traffic stop by White Hall Police Friday night for an equipment violation resulted in the arrest of a Jefferson County man on drug and weapons charges.

Larry Huber, 47, was stopped at 10:45 p.m. because one of the headlights in his vehicle was out, White Hall Police Investigator Sgt. Mickey Buffkin said in a probable cause affidavit presented in district court Monday.

A records check showed that his driver’s license was expired and that he was a convicted felon; Huber’s mother was contacted to come and pickup the vehicle.

Buffkin reported that when Huber stepped out of the vehicle to sign a citation for driving on an expired license, the White Hall officers saw a handgun in the waistband of Huber’s pants. When he was patted down for officer safety, a bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine was found wrapped in a $10 bill in Huber’s left front pocket. Officers also located a small glass pipe commonly used to smoke drugs in Huber’s boot.

Bond set for woman who allegedly fired shots at apartment

A $25,000 bond was set Monday for a woman who allegedly fired shots into an apartment where her former boyfriend was living.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Chalissaa Mcclatchie, 26, with committing a terroristic act.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Detective Ryan Moheb, police were sent to the apartments at 2100 W. 40th Ave. on May 26, where the man said Mcclatchie was upset because he broke up with her. He said she came to the apartment at about 11:32 a.m., announced herself and began yelling and banging on the door. He also said he heard another voice telling Mcclatchie to leave.

When police arrived, they found that four shots had been fired through the door, and a fifth shot through a window of the apartment. Five .45-caliber shell casings were found on the parking lot in front of the apartment.

A witness reported seeing Mccatchie leaving in a car with another woman and gave police a description of that car, which officers located and stopped on Friday.

Moheb reported that the female driver admitted that she was with Mcclatchie and said Mcclatchie fired shots at the apartment after she attempted to get Mcclatchie to leave.

When Mcclatchie was interviewed, she denied any knowledge of the incident, Moheb said in the affidavit.

Mcclatchie was ordered to have no contact with the victim until the case is settled.

Police arrest two with drugs, weapons

A stakeout by police who were looking for a man described as a “person of interest” in multiple shooting incidents Friday resulted in his arrest and that of another man on drug and weapons charges.

Jose Cirino, 21, had allegedly posted multiple messages on social media showing him with marijuana, money and firearms, according to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Detective Richard McCorvy that was read in district court Monday morning.

McCorvy and Pine Bluff Police Detective Matthew Pate were conducting surveillance at the Pineywood Apartments when they saw Cirino and a second man, Rogrick Adway Jr., 18, leave one of the apartments, with Adway carrying a backpack, which he placed in a vehicle.

The vehicle, with Cirino driving, left the apartments. McCorvy and Pate followed it before attempting a traffic stop. Cirino drove around and pulled back into the apartments, and Adway fled with the backpack. McCorvy chased him while Pate went to the vehicle, which contained Cirino.

According to the affidavit, McCorvy chased Adway before taking him into custody and seizing the backpack, which contained an unloaded .38-caliber handgun, a nine-millimeter semi-automatic handgun with 15 rounds in it, a set of digital scales and two glass jars containing 25.1 grams of suspected marijuana.

A plastic bag containing 7.8 grams of suspected marijuana was found in the vehicle.

McCorvy reported that a female who lived in the apartment Adway had come out of gave officers permission to search it. Inside they found a stolen Glock model 23 mounted with a tactical light and an extended clip containing 22 rounds. They also found two jars of suspected marijuana weighing 52.2 grams.

When the woman was questioned, she told police she had received text messages from Adway telling her not to let police into the apartment, to hide the gun and flush the marijuana.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $50,000 cash bond for Cirino and a $25,000 bond for Adway after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge them with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and with being felons in possession of firearms because of prior convictions.

Bond set for man who allegedly beat sister

A Pine Bluff man who allegedly beat his sister and her boyfriend on Friday will have to post a $50,000 bond to be released from the adult detention center while prosecutors prepare felony charges against him.

On Tuesday, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Allen Claggett, 43, with one count of first-degree battery and one count of second offense third-degree domestic battery.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Detective Jeremy Oswalt that was presented in court, police responded to the 1700 block of South Hickory Street in response to a report that a woman was hazing seizures.

The woman, Claggett’s sister, said Claggett started accusing her boyfriend of beating her, and when she told Claggett the boyfriend had never hit her, Claggett began beating her in the face with his fist multiple times. The boyfriend tried to intervene and Claggett began punching him in the face; when the boyfriend fell down, Claggett began stomping him in the head.

Oswalt reported that the woman had extreme swelling to her face, especially around the right eye. Medical personnel told police the woman may have an orbital fracture. She declined medical attention at the scene and said she would take herself to the hospital.

The boyfriend received multiple injuries to the head and had blood and fluid leaking from both ears. He was transferred to a Little Rock hospital for treatment.

Clagett, who has multiple prior felony convictions, was ordered to have no contact with the victims until the case is settled.
