Police arrest suspect in Monday murder

A Pine Bluff teenager was shot to death Monday and police have arrested a suspect in the incident.

 

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the victim as 15-year-old Decorion Jones, who was pronounced dead at Jefferson Regional Medical Center by a doctor in the emergency room Tuesday morning. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the upper body.

 

Pine Bluff Police Department Lt. David De Foor said in a press release Tuesday that Terrell Lavon Collier, 17, was arrested without incident on probable cause of first-degree murder.

 

Police responded to the reported shooting in the area of West 26th Avenue and Beech Street at 4:44 p.m. Monday and found Jones, who was unresponsive and taken to JRMC.

 

A police BOLO (Be On The Lookout) that was issued for Collier said his last known address was 1423 Belmoor Drive, and he was last seen in a white SUV with dark tinted windows and a sunroof. The make, model and license plate number of the vehicle were unknown.

 

According to the press release, the motive for the shooting is unknown.

 

Kelley said the body will be sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office at Little Rock for an autopsy. This was the 10th murder in Pine Bluff so far this year.
