The Pine Bluff Police Department will hold its sixth annual Police and Youth Camp graduation ceremony at at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The public is invited to attend.
The PAY Camp is a six-week program that allowed youths to participate in events under the guidance of police officers.
“It benefits the community by letting our younger citizens interact with law enforcement officers in a non enforcement capacity,” a spokesman said in a news release. “At the same time, the kids got to experience of a variety of fun and games as well as classroom work designed to help them in life.”
Youth learned about various city offices and attended classes on topics ranging from changing a tire to conflict resolution.
“They are taught about bullying as well as cooperation,” the spokesman said. “Boys and girls are each given classes on team building and self esteem. All classes are geared toward pointing our young citizens toward becoming confident and capable young adults.”
Youth also took trips to the Little Rock Zoo, Wild River Country and Magic Springs.
