Briona Barbee is this year’s $1,000 scholarship recipient from the Kiwanis Club of Pine Bluff.

The Pine Bluff High School graduate will be attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she has a goal of becoming a registered nurse.

She said her ultimate goal is to complete the nurse anesthesia track of the doctor of nursing practice program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, according to a news release.

She said her hopes of becoming a nurse is more than just a personal goal. The honor roll student, who has volunteered in numerous service areas, sees it as an opportunity to help leave a lasting impact on the lives of youth in Pine Bluff as she serves in community involvement and mentoring other youth.
