Two men are dead after an early morning shooting in Pine Bluff, police said.
Officers were dispatched to 101 W. 17th Ave. in Pine Bluff just before 1 a.m. Thursday about a report of a possible shooting, according to a news release issued by the Pine Bluff Police Department.
Officers found Christopher Gates, 39, on the front porch of the residence, the release said. Gates had multiple gunshot wounds, the release said, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher.
A second victim, identified as Charles Washington Jr., 18, was found near the sidewalk in front of the residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to the release, he was taken to Jefferson County Medical Center where he died of his wounds during surgery.
No motive or suspect information was available. These are the city’s 16th and 17th homicides of 2020.
