The Arbor Day Foundation named Pine Bluff a 2025 Tree City USA in recognition of its commitment to planting, growing and maintaining trees to benefit its community. Pine Bluff has received this honor for 13 consecutive years.
“Members of the Pine Bluff Tree Board have consistently worked with dedication to fulfill the four core standards required annually to earn the Tree City USA honor,” according to a news release from Kevin Harris, Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service staff chair, agent/Urban Stormwater.
The Arbor Day Foundation is a global nonprofit organization with a mission to inspire people to plant, nurture and celebrate trees. Its network of more than a million supporters and partners has helped the organization plant more than 500 million trees in forests and communities across more than 60 countries since 1972.
“We all play a vital role in shaping green infrastructure in Pine Bluff,” Harris said. “Many of us have fond childhood memories of climbing trees or cooling off in their shade after playing outside.”

The Tree City USA program has recognized cities and towns that leverage urban forestry to enhance the livability and sustainability of their local area for more than 50 years.
“Trees are essential to Pine Bluff’s overall stormwater management plan. They reduce runoff, help mitigate the urban heat island effect, and support mental and physical wellbeing. When planted in the right locations, trees can also reduce traffic noise, increase property values, and lower homeowners’ energy costs,” according to the news release.
