The Pine Bluff Branch of the NAACP will hold a spring job fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
Various employers from the public and private sectors will be available to assist job seekers, according to a news release.
The theme is “One-Stop Job and Career Enhancement Fair,” to emphasize the employment opportunities, career training, and resources available for people needing financial and medical support to become employed, according to the release.
“The (NAACP) Branch is working closely with the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services, which will provide on-site resume writing, job search, and ACT certification information,” the release said.
Fred Toney is chairman of the NAACP’s Economic Development Committee, which is coordinating the event.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
“An economic and demographic report of Pine Bluff prepared by the committee cited the high unemployment and low labor force participation rate among area residents as well as the income inequality in the city as major impediments to economic growth,” Toney said. “The committee determined that a job fair would bring attention to these concerns for both residents and area employers.”
Major employers in Pine Bluff and Little Rock, public/government agencies, educational institutions, and resource providers will participate in the fair.
“Whether hoping to find a fresh start, a better job, or a new career direction, job seekers will find a wealth of exciting opportunities at this free job fair,” the release said.
