A Pine Bluff man was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle accident at Kingsland in Cleveland County.
Johnny Lee Sawyer, 48, was northbound on U.S. 79 when the 1986 Ford he was driving crossed the center line into the southbound lane and struck a 2011 International Tractor-Trailer head on, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
The driver of the truck, Lynda Gray, 48, of McNeil, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
Trooper Greg Rowland reported that the accident occurred at 7:15 p.m. The roadway was wet and it was raining at the time.
According to the report, Sawyer was not wearing a seat belt.
The death was the 325th reported this year on the state’s highways.
