The seventh graders at Pine Bluff Junior High School were winners of the 2025 Pizza Party Challenge for the August Nonviolence to No Violence Anti-Bullying School Challenge between the 7th and 8th grades. Seventh graders will receive pizza Oct. 3, according to a news release.
The National Alliance of Faith and Justice PEN OR PENCIL Pizza Party Positive Behavior Intervention Strategy is supported by the Voices of Black Mothers United, United Way of Southeast Arkansas, Being Brothers for Kids and Turning Point Youth Center Inc.
The PBICVR PEN OR PENCIL Mentoring Movement and Pastors on Patrol Faith-based Mentors utilize the six principles of nonviolence advocated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This initiative encourages students to reduce incidents of school violence, bullying, demeaning language, as well as fighting, pushing and hitting.
From Aug. 1-29, students were challenged to decrease negative behaviors, according to the release from the Rev. Jesse C. Turner, executive director of Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc.
