The Pine Bluff High School Class of 2015 celebrated its 10-year reunion recently. In an effort of giving back to the next generation, the class awarded scholarships to two PBHS students, Lamarus Morris Jr. and Anjelica Whitmore.
The recipients were honored in recognition of their academic excellence and leadership, according to a news release.
The scholarships were presented during the PBHS Homecoming assembly by Class of 2015 alumni Timothy Reynolds, Rod Thompson, Tamia Thomas and Jalan Williams, who returned to celebrate student achievement and encourage academic excellence.
“Their presentation symbolized the lasting connection between past and present Zebras as former students continue to invest in the success of future graduates,” according to the release.
The reunion committee, composed of Timothy Reynolds Jr., Rod Thompson, Tanyra Williams, Tamia Thomas, Kariah Coleman, Aaliyah Iverson and Teryn Riles-Shavers, spent nearly two years planning the celebration.
Along with the celebration, the Class of 2015 took time to reflect and honor classmates who have passed away. A tribute and balloon release were held in memory of Asa Stewart, Jalen Johnson, Dequeon Neal, Vincent Smith, Demetrius Harris, Raquel Ravion, Brandon McCay, Deondrick Clark, Candice Smith, Theresa Taylor and Robert Henderson, according to the news release.
