First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel St., will host “Christ in the Passover” at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 25.
Rahel Landrum of Jews for Jesus will re-create the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus’ death and resurrection in this presentation.
“Jesus’ Last Supper was actually a Jewish Passover,” First Baptist pastor, Ken Thornton, said in a news release.
“Ms. Landrum will set a table with items traditionally used at the Passover meal and detail their spiritual significance. She will also explain the connection between the events of the first Passover in Egypt and the redemption that Jesus accomplished, as well as the deep bond between the ancient Passover feast and the Christian communion celebration today,” Thornton said.
Jews for Jesus has presented “Christ in the Passover” at more than 38,000 churches.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
“It has been enthusiastically received by Christians who appreciate learning more about the Jewish backgrounds of their faith,” according to the release.
Landrum will be available to answer questions after the presentation.
The pastor extends an invitation to everyone to attend this special Palm Sunday event.
