The sanctuary choir of Pine Bluff First Baptist Church, 6501 S. Hazel St., will present a Good Friday Tenebrae Service at 7 p.m. Friday, March 30.
The presentation is entitled “Remember My Love.” The program is free and the public is invited to attend.
“Tenebrae (pronounced tén-eh-bray), the Latin translation for ‘shadows,’ is a service of darkness that commemorates the suffering and death of Christ, and is based on an ancient service, dating from the eighth century,” according to a news release. “This unique, narrated musical service represents the darkness that fell over the earth as the Son of God was crucified.”
Participants are asked to enter the sanctuary in silent meditation as the service will be solemn.
“This is the night on which Christ died to save us from our sins,” according to the release. “Let us show reverence and awe in the face of such sacrifice. As the service closes, we also ask that you leave the church in silent reflection.”
