A child burn survivor from Pine Bluff will attend the International Burn Camp at Washington, D.C., starting Saturday, Sept. 24.
Jaylan Miles will participate in a one-week camp designed to help young burn survivors who have their life-changing injuries, according to a news release from the International Association of Fire Fighters.
“Firefighters understand the courage and peer support these children will need to overcome their injuries and thrive,” a spokesman said in the release. “Many firefighters have suffered burns themselves. This is why a burn camp hosted by professional firefighters is such an important event for these remarkable children.”
On Monday, Sept. 26, campers will join D.C. Fire Fighters for lunch at the Chinatown Firehouse. Campers on Wednesday, Sept. 28, will participate in the wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.
