The Pine Bluff Art League will host its monthly meeting featuring Little Rock artist Tanya Hollifield at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The community is invited to attend free, according to a news release.
Hollifield was artist in residence at the ARTx3 campus in December 2024 working on a special paper doll project, The McAll Project, and will be sharing her process with the PBAL. This is a modernized version of the paper doll she played with as a child, Betsy McCall.
Topics include paper doll significance and creating characters and narrative, according to the release.
Hollifield actively creates work in the studio and with the community. She recently received an Arkansas Arts Council Fellowship for her public engagement work and was named Peace Activist of the Year primarily for her work with the 7th Street Mural Project. She is also co-producer of the Prison Portrait Project.
The artist has extensive practice working with her community in the capacity of art for environmental and social justice and organizing events. Her expressive figurative works are in collections across the nation and currently represented at the M2Gallery.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
