Pine Bluff Area Church News beginning Nov. 22

ANNIVERSARIES

• CORINTH MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Sherrill will host the 39th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. and Mrs. Ulysses Dunlap Sr., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Brian Dodson, pastor of Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer, accompanied by his congregation. Guests will also include the Webb Sisters, Sonz of Glory and Debra Canagan.

• TRAVELERS REST MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Grady will celebrate its 81st anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Dante Nicholson, pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas.

• SNEED MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Yorktown will commemorate its 135th anniversary at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Michael Barker, pastor of Fairview Christian Church at North Little Rock.

CONCERTS/MUSICALS

• WESTSIDE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Star City will present a Thanksgiving musical at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. Guest singers will include the Hearts, Pure Purpose, Merci, S4C, and Ratio Spirituals.

• BETHLEHEM WORSHIP CENTER CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST at Dumas will present its second annual Thanksgiving musical celebration at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.

REVIVAL

• FREEDOM MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Altheimer will conduct revival at 7 p.m. on the following dates with these speakers: Nov. 24 — The Rev. Aaron Barnes, pastor of New Home Missionary Baptist Church, accompanied by his congregation; and Nov. 25-26 — The Rev. Derrick Herron, pastor of the Community of Love Missionary Baptist Church at England, accompanied by his members.

SPECIAL EVENTS

• MT. CARMEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 900 Grant St., will host a Night of Thankfulness Love Appreciation honoring the pastor and wife, the Rev. Anthony and Betty Craig, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. Special guests will include the Five Stars of Indianola, Miss., and quartets from Pine Bluff and the surrounding area.

• NU BREAD OF LIFE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1711 W. 13th Ave., will host its brotherhood day at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The speaker will be the pastor, the Rev. Sammie Smith Jr.

• UNION MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH at Altheimer will present its annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Alvin Newburn, pastor of Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Star City.

• NEW COMMUNITY CHURCH, 321 N. Birch St., will host its 12 tribe unity program at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The speaker will be Christine Allmond of New Community. The Mulberry Grove Choir will sing.

• SEVEN STAR MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH of Reed will have its harvest drive program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The Rev. Larry Jordan, pastor of St. James Missionary Baptist Church of Texarkana, will be the special guest.

• KINGS HIGHWAY MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2312 Fluker St., will celebrate its annual ushers’ ministry day at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The special guests will be the Rev. Robert Willis Jr., pastor of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and his congregation.

• TRANSFORMATIONAL CONSULTANTS INSTITUTE, 811 W. Sixth Ave., will host the “Behind the Veil” Expository Teaching Ministry every other Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. This semester will focus on the book of Ephesians. Margarette Williams, Ed.D, Ph.D, business owner and instructor, recently announced the continuation of the classes. Sessions are free, however lunch is $10. Details: 870-535-5665.

• WATSON CHAPEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 5514 Pinnacle Lane, is among locations collecting shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children overseas through Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham. Collections will continue at Watson Chapel Baptist Church, Nov. 22: 9 a.m. to noon; Nov. 23: 9 a.m. to noon; Nov. 24: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Nov. 25: 9 a.m. to noon. THANKSGIVING DINNERS/EVENTS

• NEW BETHLEHEM MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 500 Bois D’ Arc St., will sponsor a Thanksgiving community dinner from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22. The community is invited to attend.

• FIRST PENTECOSTAL CHURCH OF JESUS ONLY, 1308 Holly St., will have its free Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. People are welcomed to stop by and pick up a dinner and request prayer.

• THE CHURCH OF GOD, 7111 Shannon Road, will serve a free Thanksgiving dinner at noon Saturday, Nov. 23. For those who are elderly or disabled, limited delivery of meals will be available from 11 a.m. to noon. • MT. OLIVE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 8523 Princeton Pike, will host its annual community Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23. The community is invited to attend.
