The Pine Bluff School District is looking to hire four executive positions as part of a realignment, Pine Bluff Interim Superintendent T.C. Wallace Jr. said on Thursday.
Wallace said he is doing a re-organizational structure of administrative staffing in light of the implementation of the reduction in force policy. The four positions are an executive director of operations, an executive director of business and finance, an executive director of teaching and learning services and an executive director of school support and community engagement. People may apply online at http://pinebluffschools.k12.ar.us. The deadline to apply to these positions is May 15.
“I am reorganizing existing positions,” Wallace said. “We encourage current employees to apply if their credentials meet the posting needs if they are qualified. I welcome their application.”
People may see a job description, qualifications and job duties at the Pine Bluff School District website.
Sixty-eight Pine Bluff School District employees will lose their jobs in June as a result of an impending closure of two school buildings. In addition to the layoffs, seven employees are resigning and nine employees are retiring. The total savings comes to $3,144,271.
The Pine Bluff School Board voted unanimously on Tuesday, April 21, to approve the reduction in force policy list, which outlined the layoffs and also outlined the job reassignments that will be made as a result of the closings of Oak Park Elementary School and Southeast Middle School at the end of the current academic year. The board voted March 3 to close the schools because of declining enrollment and a subsequent drop in funding.
Some employees are losing jobs at Oak Park Elementary, Southwood Elementary, Broadmoor Elementary, Thirty-Fourth Avenue Elementary, W.T. Cheney Elementary, Belair Middle, Jack Robey Junior High and Pine Bluff High schools. In addition, some custodians and administration building employees are also losing their jobs.
