White Hall was a winner times three Thursday.
The high school was awarded hosting rights to the 4A state basketball and 2A state baseball tournaments during an Arkansas Activities Association Board of Directors meeting in North Little Rock. The basketball tourney will be held at the Pine Bluff Convention Center and is slated to run from Feb. 28-March 3.
The announcement came shortly before White Hall’s third victory of the day — and one of a different sort. Its boys basketball team beat Sheridan 46-45.
“We used to have the tournament, the first two rounds of the state tournament, every year when I was here a few years ago,” White Hall boys basketball coach Joe Stacey said after that game. “I think it’s great for Pine Bluff. The Convention Center is a great place to play basketball, and it will be great for us.”
The 4A tournament was one of two for state basketball awarded to Southeast Arkansas schools Thursday. Fordyce will be the site of the 3A tournament during the same dates.

In baseball, White Hall will host the 2A state tourney on campus, while Monticello will welcome the 5A playoffs. Those tournaments are set for May 10-12.
Watson Chapel had bid to host the 5A state basketball playoffs at the PBCC, but Greene County Tech got the nod. Both Watson Chapel and White Hall are 5A schools.
Also in basketball, Dumas was awarded the 4A South Regional playoffs, Feb. 22-26.
For baseball, Star City will be the site for the 4A South Regional tourney and Poyen was granted the 2A East. Woodlawn landed the 2A South Regional softball playoffs.
Those tournaments are scheduled for May 4-7.
