The Blues By Budweiser concert series will feature Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers at 8 p.m. Oct. 5 at RJ’s Grill & Bar, 128 S. Main St.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. Port City Blues Society members are admitted free. Admission is $5 cover for others. The concert series is sponsored by MK Distributors.
“Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers is a modern day powerhouse blues band, built on old-school influences with a mutual love for the down and dirty style blues that have come to define the band’s original sound,” according to a news release. “With influences varying from Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells, Little Walter, Slim Harpo, Buddy Guy, Michael Bloomfield, Otis Rush and Elmore James, the Soul Shakers have set a high standard for delivering a pure sound worthy of such company.”
Hailing from Oklahoma, Eric “Dirty Red” McDaniel is a singer-songwriter, harmonica-playing bluesman. After decades of song writing experience, he got his start performing with Oklahoma Blues legend, Miss Blues.
He has appeared on recordings with Miss Blues and The Blue Notes, Old Gray Mule, Rickett Pass and Cedric Burnside, as well as two albums with his band, Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers.

In January 2018, Dirty Red and the Soul Shakers represented Oklahoma at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tenn., making it into the semifinals of the contest.
Port City Blues Society, which promotes the blues series, is an affiliated member of The Blues Foundation. The society seeks to preserve and promote blues music, the culture of Delta blues and educate the public about the history of the blues in the region.
