One day after snow arrived in Pine Bluff, the city’s streets and major arteries appeared to be clear Saturday afternoon.

IDriveArkansas.com indicated Interstate 530 from the Pulaski-Jefferson county heading south was clear, but all highways into Little Rock were still covered in either slush or ice patches. None of the counties in southeast Arkansas reported any covered highways, which may bode well for those heading to church Sunday morning after another night of subfreezing temperatures. The low for Saturday night is expected to be 25 degrees.

Pine Bluff Mayor Vivian Flowers reported clear roads across the city Friday. She traveled across Pine Bluff after spending time at the Opportunity House on East Sixth Avenue. Flowers said all city offices will reopen Monday.

“The temperatures during the day are going to be even higher than they were today and what they will be (Sunday),” Flowers said. “We’ll just keep the warming center open during regular hours until Thursday night into Friday morning.”

The warming center had been open on a 24-hour schedule since Friday and will resume regular hours of 6:30 p.m.-7 a.m. starting Monday. At least 20 people had stayed in the warming center as of Friday night, Flowers said.

The next four days call for sunny and mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from 37-42, but Monday’s low is expected to drop to 18 after gusts as high as 15 mph during the day.

Snow has not fallen in Pine Bluff since noon Friday. The city received just 0.62 inches of snow in the 12 hours prior.

WM will resume normal route schedules Monday for customers in Pine Bluff, Altheimer and Gillett. Customers who were missed due to weather will be collected throughout Monday and Tuesday.

WM also will resume picking up carts from residents in unincorporated Jefferson County on Monday and Tuesday.
