Leadership Pine Bluff held a farm tour in April and a law enforcement day in March.
The class took an engaging and educational farm tour session April 16. The day began at the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service where participants explored the Jefferson County Master Gardeners’ demonstration garden.
The group then visited the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff for an in-depth tour of its Aquaculture/Fisheries Department, gaining insight into one of the region’s key agricultural research areas, according to a news release.
Lunch followed at Saracen Casino Resort, offering time to connect and reflect. The day concluded with a visit to the working farm of Chad Render in Jefferson County, where attendees witnessed firsthand the innovation involved in local farming.

“The session highlighted the vital role agriculture plays in our community and offered participants a deeper appreciation for the people and practices that sustain it,” according to the release.
In March, Leadership Pine Bluff’s Law Enforcement/Safety Day provided participants with an in-depth look at the critical roles the local emergency services play in keeping the community safe.
The day began with a visit to Emergency Ambulance Services Inc., where the group gained insights into emergency medical response. Next, they toured the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Association for Jefferson County, learning how 911 calls are handled and dispatched.
A stop at the Jefferson County sheriff’s office included a tour of the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center, followed by lunch featuring catfish and lasagna provided by the group. Participants were also treated to a K-9 demonstration and a tour of the juvenile detention center.
The day concluded at Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services, where the group explored fire safety measures, toured the facility and witnessed a demonstration of the department’s new state-of-the-art ladder truck.
“We are incredibly grateful for our dedicated law enforcement officers, first responders and emergency personnel who work tirelessly to protect Pine Bluff and Jefferson County. Thank you for all you do,” a spokesperson said.
