A forum for Pine Bluff mayoral candidates will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.
The event will be sponsored by Arkansas Community Organizations (ACO), formerly ACORN. The moderator will be Dustin Barnes from Fox 16 news.
Mayoral candidates are incumbent Carl A. Redus Jr., Clarence Davis, Debe Hollingsworth, Tim Whisenhunt, Thelma Walker, Steven Mays, John James Jr., Peter Daniels Jr. and Kent Broughton.
“We are hoping to get all nine candidates to come and express their views on jobs and wages, use of the city’s sales tax funds and the top priorities for our city,” Maxine Nelson, president of ACO, said in a news release.
“We think that local elections are just as important as the presidential election,” Nelson said. “Our purpose in holding the forum is to give the public the chance to hear the candidates’ views on the pressing issues facing Pine Bluff.”
