PB man, 60, dies after hit by a car

A Pine Bluff man died late Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle while walking near West 15th Avenue and South Cherry Street.

The victim has been identified as 60-year-old Charles Durdin of Pine Bluff.

At approximately 10:44 p.m., Pine Bluff Police responded to a call about a pedestrian down in the area.

Upon arrival, officers noticed an unresponsive Black male lying in the street and started life saving measures until EASI Ambulance Service Inc. arrived on scene and assumed control.

According to a witness, Durdin was walking west on West 15th Avenue and crossing South Cherry Street when he was struck by a passenger vehicle traveling north on Cherry Street. The driver remained at the scene.

Durdin was transported to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
