For its June session, the 2024 Leadership Pine Bluff Class learned about higher education opportunities and programs available in the community.

The group spent the morning at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. At the University Museum and Cultural Center, the class members learned about the history of UAPB, according to the newsletter from the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce.

After a presentation from the UAPB recruitment office and a campus tour, the group viewed the latest technology available for student use at the UAPB campus library.

“We can’t forget about the delicious lunch in the cafeteria — thanks UAPB,” a spokesman said.

After lunch, the group visited Southeast Arkansas College, where they received an in-depth campus overview from SEARK leaders.

The group then toured the campus, visiting labs in the nursing/allied health department and visited the technical studies building where students can receive certification in welding and HVAC, become a commercial vehicle operator and more.

“We had a great visit at SEARK,” a spokesman said.

The presenting sponsor of Leadership Pine Bluff is Saracen Casino Resort, according to Chamber newsletter.

Leadership Pine Bluff is a program of the Chamber. The course consists of nine monthly day-long sessions.
