Omar Atiq, MD, a Pine Bluff physician, was recently elected president-elect of the Arkansas Medical Society. He will serve one year before assuming the office of president at the next annual session in May 2013.
Atiq, an oncologist at the Arkansas Cancer Institute, has been a member of AMS since 1991. He will be in line to become president of AMS and will serve as a member of the board of trustees, executive committee and the house of delegates.
He has been on the board of trustees since 2003 and serves as an at-large member on the Arkansas State Medical Board.
