PB arrestee sent to El Dorado jail

A Pine Bluff man arrested after a traffic stop Tuesday has been transported to El Dorado, where he faces several charges, including capital murder, according to authorities.

A Jefferson County sheriff’s office spokesman said a vehicle with expired license plates and driven by Deuntae Javon Williams, 20, was pulled over about 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot of a Cash Saver grocery store at Sixth Avenue and Ash Street. The spokesman said the deputy conducted a background check and learned that Williams was wanted by El Dorado police.

Williams was booked into the Jefferson County jail at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday and released at 4 p.m. Wednesday to El Dorado police, according to authorities. He is in the Union County jail awaiting a hearing this morning, according to reports.

Pine Bluff police arrested Williams as a juvenile in 2019, Sgt. Richard Wegner said, but information related to the arrest cannot be released because of Williams’ age at the time.

Williams currently is facing charges that include capital murder, terroristic act, battery in the first degree, aggravated assault, felony with a firearm, engaging in a continuing criminal game or enterprise, and carrying certain prohibited weapons in Union County.

El Dorado police did not return a call Thursday seeking additional information about the case against Williams.
