PB Area Community Foundation accepting scholarship applications

The Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation (PBACF), a local office of the Arkansas Community Foundation (ARCF), will again be offering scholarships to high school seniors and college students in Jefferson County.

Last year, more than $28,000 in scholarships were announced.

Christopher Castoro, executive director, said that all of the scholarships offered through the foundation have different criteria. That is because the scholarships are established by different donors, who have the right to set some of the parameters. Some scholarships might apply only to students at a particular high school, some may be need-based, others have academic criteria, etc. It is important for the student to read and understand the criteria before applying.

Students may now pick up copies of the applications at their school guidance counselor’s office or download them directly from the website www.arcf.org/pinebluff. The website includes an explanation of the process, an overview of each scholarship, and a link to each application. Deadline for most of the scholarships, with a few exceptions, is 5 p.m. March 15. More information may be obtained at the website or by calling 870-850-7934.

Arkansas Community Foundation makes grants to improve the quality of life in our state and collaborates with individuals, families and organizations to build local communities through philanthropy. ARCF has more than $125 million in assets and has provided more than $80 million in grants since it began operation in 1976. Contributions to ARCF, its funds and any of its 27 local affiliate offices are fully tax deductible.
