Matthew Pate, PhD., represented the city of Pine Bluff and Pine Bluff Police Department as a speaker for the National Problem-Oriented Conference at Portland, Oregon, Oct. 21.
Pate, a senior research fellow with the Violence Research Group, University at Albany, presented “Social Network Analysis as a Tool for Problem Oriented Policing” and “Quality of Life Policing in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.”
The conference was sponsored by the Problem-Oriented Center, an information clearinghouse used by communities all over the world.
“It was gratifying to be invited to the POP conference,” Pate said in a press release. “This is an event attended by some of the most progressive law enforcement leaders in the country. Pine Bluff was asked to participate because the word has gotten out about our innovative approaches to problem solving and community improvement. It really says something important for us to be held up as a positive example.”
