Part of Main Street closed again after bricks fall into street

Two blocks of Main Street between Sixth and Eighth avenues were closed to traffic Tuesday afternoon after bricks fell from the building owned by Garland Trice.

Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Department Capt. Fred Tisdale said the bricks were on the southeast corner of the building and some fell across the street, near Davis Auto Parts.

“As a safety precaution, they closed the street and will take another look tomorrow,” Tisdale said.

Trice is the owner the building at 620 Main St., which collapsed onto the third floor and street in July 2014. In August 2015, Trice was found guilty of violating a city ordinance for failing to demolish that building.

Trice said he would appeal the decision.

He was scheduled to appear in court in February on that appeal but that trial was continued.
