Three people from Southeast Arkansas who had applied to have their prison sentences commuted were rejected by the Arkansas Parole Board on June 16.
The board also said the pardon application of Gary J. Mizell, who was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia in Desha County, had merit. That application will be sent to the governor, who will make the final decision.
The three who applied for sentence commutations, the crime they committed and the county of sentence are as follows:
* Toby Adams, manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance, fraud, possession of drug paraphernalia, Jefferson County.
* Michael Cagle, first-degree murder, Jefferson County.
* Marcus Kellebrew, second-degree sexual assault, Drew County.
