Owasoyo to serve on panel selecting students to study abroad

Philomena Owasoyo, an official at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, was chosen to serve as a national selection panelist to review summer applications for the Gilman Scholarship Study Abroad Program.

Owasoyo is an international/graduate admissions officer in the Office of Admissions at UAPB.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers grants to undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens with limited financial means to pursue academic studies abroad. Award recipients are chosen by a competitive selection process.

The congressionally funded program is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and is administered by the Institute of International Education in New York, through its Southern Regional Center in Houston, Texas.

Students interested in applying for a Gilman Scholarship should contact their UAPB campus advisors or they could also e-mail Pamela D. Moore at moorep@uapb.edu or Philomena Owasoyo at owasoyop@uapb.edu for further information.
