The Optimist Club of Pine Bluff (OCPB) will host the first annual Optimist Club Golf Tournament, a four-person scramble, at 1 p.m. April 27 on the greens of Harbor Oaks.
In addition, all golfers will be entered into a Hole-In-One competition with the chance to win $10,000. The entry fee for a team of four is $300, which includes greens fee, cart, beverages and entry for door prizes.
The Optimist Club of Pine Bluff was formed on Nov. 1, 1951, with the sole purpose of helping youth succeed in this ever-changing environment called “life”. The OCPB conducts several community service projects annually, including sponsoring a team for Jr. Babe Ruth, collecting Christmas toys for Neighbor to Neighbor, holding a youth appreciation banquet and granting a scholarship for a graduating senior, volunteering with the Special Olympics, and creating the Path of Friends Garden at Jenkins Memorial. The funds for sponsoring such events are generated from a couple of fundraisers every year. This year the club decided to add an event to its calendar by hosting a golf tournament.
Individuals and/or organizations interested in supporting the OCPB with this event are asked to contact Kevin Archer at kevin.archer@simmonsfirst.com. The deadline for team applications is April 20. Donations are welcome and all proceeds will benefit the local area youth and support local needs.
