OPINION | LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to the Legislature

Jesse Turner

Thanks, legislators

Editor, The Commercial:

The Pine Bluff Faith Community Coalition Ministerial Alliance (PBFCCMA) and Pastors on Patrol (POP™) thank the Arkansas Legislature for amending the 2017 National Motto Act.

This amendment allowed Gov. Sarah H. Sanders to sign Act 573 of 2025, which pertains to the display of the National Motto and the Ten Commandments in schools. The act gives local school superintendents and other officials the authority to display the Ten Commandments in prominent locations within schools.

Notably, superintendents from three school districts — Pine Bluff, White Hall and Watson Chapel — have agreed to allow the display of the Ten Commandments.

Following the 2017 legislation, superintendents in the Pine Bluff school districts permitted Pastors on Patrol (POP™) to successfully place framed versions of the National Motto in classrooms and administrative offices within the Watson Chapel and Pine Bluff school districts. The PBFCCMA Ten Commandments Project continues in this spirit.
