Farewell, senator
Editor, The Commercial:
It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Arkansas state Sen. Gary Stubblefield, who died today (Tuesday, Sept. 2) at the age of 74. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family, colleagues in the General Assembly and the citizens he faithfully served.
Senator Stubblefield was elected to the Arkansas Senate in 2012 and went on to represent Senate District 26, which includes parts of Franklin, Johnson, Logan, and Sebastian counties.
Before his service in the Senate, he served in the Arkansas House of Representatives, bringing a strong voice for rural communities and working families to the Capitol.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
On behalf of the Jefferson County sheriff’s office, I extend our heartfelt condolences and gratitude for Sen. Stubblefield’s years of public service. May his family find comfort in knowing that his legacy of dedication to Arkansas will endure.
Sincerely,
Lafayette Woods
Sheriff of Jefferson County
