OPINION | LETTER: PBS needed

Karl Hansen

We do need PBS

Editor, The Commercial:

Folks, don’t you get tired of being lied to by people in charge of what’s left of our government? The fact is that “Project for 2025” compiled by The Heritage Foundation outlines what most of the depredations have been. There are more to come.

PBS did a documentary about Donald Trump on a program titled “Frontline” which was truthful and well documented. Trump didn’t like not being spared the uncomplimentary facts about him and his disregard of the law. Since he could do so, he destroyed PBS with one of his executive orders. Like almost anything else that doesn’t “align with the Trump Agenda,” it had to go. And the spineless brown-nosers who bow and genuflect to their Glorious Leader allowed him that.

A large portion of us folks on limited incomes who can’t afford cable or satellite are now deprived of its superior output. Those elected to serve us decided we don’t matter as much as Trump. PBS was one of our best sources of history and the treatment of all the nation’s people.

They allocated responsibility to those who deserved it. Lots of “Religious Whites” don’t wish that taught nor shown on TV. Trump, who is busily deleting much of our history from public records and educational systems, has been aided and abetted in that by White Christian Nationalists and evangelicals.

Two hundred and fifty years ago we had to rid ourselves of a king and tyrant. It begins to appear that we’ll have to do it again. If you’re willing to make a rug of yourself — remember that rugs are walked on!

Hensley
