Editor, The Commercial:
My name is Dawnetta M. Van Dunk, and I am writing to share why I wholeheartedly support Nathaniel D. Baker for Fourth Ward Alderman. Our family has deep roots here, and our commitment to this community is a lifelong mission.
Continuing a Legacy of Service:
For over a decade, I’ve worked alongside my brother on his Community Thanksgiving Dinner events. This experience not only provided meals; it gave me the skills and education needed to effectively run non-profits. It also inspired me to continue efforts to foster interest in STEM for our local middle school girls and boys. By supporting several Ward 4 students’ participation in STEM Summer Camps, I’ve seen firsthand how opportunity changes lives.
Our parents taught us the value of stability and investment. To honor their legacy, we’ve spent a significant amount of time rehabilitating properties they acquired over 30 years ago, ensuring our neighborhood remains strong and vibrant.

Why Nathaniel D. Baker?
Nathaniel has been committed to community outreach for over 20 years. I have always been proud of his unique ability to use his voice to galvanize people and move them to act. He doesn’t just talk about change; he creates the opportunities that make it happen.
On Election Day, vote Nathaniel D. Baker for Fourth Ward Alderman.
Let’s allow him to apply his passion, agility, and lifelong commitment to our residents.
Together, we can build a better Fourth Ward.
