The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department reminds hunters, fishermen and other outdoor enthusiasts that it is illegal to cut, pull down, remove or otherwise breach a fence on a controlled access facility, such as Interstate 530 and Arkansas 530 (also known as the I-69 connector).
The fences are intended to limit access to the roadway and to prevent or minimize the possibility of livestock or larger wildlife from wandering on to the roadway. The cutting of these fences results in a breach of this barrier and costs to the Arkansas taxpayers for the materials and labor required to repair the fences.
The department, in cooperation with local law enforcement and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will monitor these fences and wishes to remind the public of the need to maintain these fences and that violators are subject to criminal liability in accordance with appropriate and applicable state laws.
