Deputies Kirsten Garner, James Smith and Zachary Sturdivant of the Jefferson County sheriff’s office graduated Monday from the Basic Law Enforcement Training Course at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden.
This 13-week, 538-hour course is designed to train students in the basic duties of law enforcement officers who serve in Arkansas. Once completing this course and completing a one-year probationary period, these deputies will be certified law enforcement officers in Arkansas, according to a news release.
“We are proud of Deputy Garner, Smith, and Sturdivant’s hard work, resilience, and dedication displayed during this training period and look forward to seeing them move forward in their career as law enforcement officers with the JCSO,” a spokesman said.
Also Thursday, officer Faith Smith of the Pine Bluff Police Department completed her 13-week training at ALETA.
“Officer Smith, your commitment to serve and your desire to protect the citizens of Pine Bluff is truly admirable,” Pine Bluff police posted on its Facebook page. “Your dedication, courage, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. As you embark upon this noble journey, may you always stay safe, be guided by integrity, and continue to uphold justice with compassion.
“Your service will undoubtedly make a positive impact, and your presence will bring reassurance to those in need. We want to wish you a successful and fulfilling career ahead here @ the Pine Bluff Police Department.”
