Martha Bennett recently became an area employment and training coordinator with Experience Works, a national nonprofit organization for older workers.
The project works through the Senior Community Service Employment Program, according to a news release.
As the local liaison, Bennett will coordinate services in Jefferson, Chicot, Ashley, Baxter, Benton, Boone, Clark, Conway, Crawford, Howard, Lafayette, Little River, Logan, Miller, Quachita, Pulaski, Searcy, Sebastian, Union, Washington and Yell counties.
Bennett is responsible for managing the U.S. Department of Labor-funded program in her area. The jobs program helps qualifying adults 55 and older get the skills they need to re-enter the workforce. Participants spend an average of 20-hours each week in paid on-the-job-training at public and nonprofit organizations, building confidence and gaining skills, while making a difference in their communities.
