Ninth annual Kids’ Fest set for April 20-21 at White Hall

The ninth annual Kids’ Fest is planned for April 20-21 at the White Hall City Park.

This year’s theme is “Strike Back Against Child Abuse”. The event is designed to celebrate children and educate the community on Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention.

The festival will kick off at 6 p.m. April 20 with a carnival, food vendors and a free concert featuring several up-and-coming Christian bands and Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion.

On April 21, events will begin at 11 a.m., with some of the most talented kids in the area performing, and continue until 5 p.m. The day’s free activities will include a petting zoo, featuring miniature ponies, train ride through the park, pictures with Star Wars characters, inflatable games, and a concert starting at 3 p.m., featuring American Idol finalist Sean Michelle.

The event is being sponsored in part by The Transformation Project, White Hall Chamber of Commerce, Brookshire’s, Cranford’s Fresh World, Jefferson Regional Medical Center and a host of other sponsors.

The Transformation Project, a non-profit organization located in White Hall, which offers an afterschool mentoring and tutoring program, a substance abuse program, chem-free housing, counseling, food pantry and several other community services, started this event in 2003. The event has drawn an estimated 5,000 in attendance, along with more than 40 vendors, organizations, and churches participating, according to a spokesman.

Those interested in showcasing their business, church or organization at this family event, must register by April 6. Booth registration forms and talent show entry forms may be picked up and returned to the White Hall City Hall office.
